A part of San Antonio will see increased police presence on Tuesday, March 31, after a threat was made toward an unspecified school. The Castle Hills Police Department (PD) posted on Facebook at 7:35 a.m. that more officers will be in the area as they continue to monitor an “ambiguous social media post referencing a possible threat” toward a campus in the area. The decision is being made out of an abundance of caution, police say. The threat is not specific or verified, the agency adds.

“We are in communication with Northeast ISD police, San Antonio Police Department, and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office,” the statement reads. “The safety of our community and schools remains our top priority.”

It comes after Antonian College Preparatory High School (ACP), located in Castle Hills, sent a letter to guardians notifying them of what was described as a “terroristic threat” that was “made on the TikTok video platform.” The email was sent on Tuesday, March 30, and outlined safety measures the institution was taking. This included adjusting “outdoor activities involving athletics” and a meeting with faculty regarding planning.

“Other schools in the area were also made aware by Castle Hills PD and have taken action as well,” ACP wrote in the email obtained by MySA. “Any mention of violence on social media platforms is addressed seriously.”

However, the campus went back to normal operations shortly after noon. In a follow-up Facebook post, ACP said the threat was “found to be not credible,” citing findings from working with Castle Hills PD.

“We are resuming all normal indoor and outdoor activities on campus throughout today and going forward,” the school said in the post.

Castle Hills PD Chief of Police Gary R. McHone told MySA via email Tuesday afternoon that “the situation remains under review and monitoring.”
