Barbecue restaurant Smithers Smokehouse is in development on East Hickory Street in downtown Denton, owner Cody Smithers confirmed.
According to filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction is scheduled to be complete on the 2,650-square-foot space in early October, though Smithers said he is aiming for a Sept. 4 opening to coincide with Labor Day weekend.
“We plan to bring authentic Texas barbecue, a full bar and a spacious outdoor patio to the community,” Smithers said. “The addition of a full-service bar and a large patio space will create an environment perfect for everything, from casual lunches to evening gatherings.”
The restaurant is located in the same space that housed Shine it Auto Detail before the shop moved to West Parkway Street in December. The construction’s $900,000 scope includes adding a walk-in refrigerator and two new patio overhangs.
