WOLFFORTH, Texas (KCBD) – Taylor Revilla, Community Librarian at the City of Wolfforth Library, received the Siddie Joe Johnson Award today.
The award is a statewide recognition celebrating outstanding service to children in Texas libraries. One librarian in the state is selected each year to receive the honor.
The award is named for Siddie Joe Johnson, who served for 27 years as children’s librarian and coordinator of children’s services for the Dallas Public Library.
The award recognizes a Texas librarian who demonstrates exceptional or innovative programming, sustained high performance, leadership, professional involvement, community engagement, and strong collaboration with families and fellow libraries. Recipients must hold a master’s degree in library and information science, be members of the Children’s Round Table, and have significant experience serving children in Texas libraries.
Revilla leads programs for children from preschool through middle school. She leads storytimes and special events and extends library services through school visits, community outreach, and partnerships.
“This award reflects the incredible support of our community,” Revilla said. “From colleagues and mentors to families and the young people we serve each day, their curiosity and enthusiasm are what make this work meaningful.”
City of Wolfforth Library Director Kimberly Brantley-Sallee said she has watched Revilla grow the children’s programming.
“In a profession where recognition is often rare, this honor is not only well deserved, it’s long overdue,” Brantley-Sallee said.
