SAN ANTONIO – A former San Antonio firefighter was sentenced to four years behind bars and probation on multiple counts of child sexual assault.

Joshua Dyba, 33, was arrested in October 2024 for two instances of sexual assault of a child that occurred in December 2022 and January 2023, according to Comal County jail records.

The case was tried in March 2026 in the 466th District Court. An official with the Comal County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Dyba was sentenced by a jury to two years in prison on two counts and probation on a third count. The judge ordered they run consecutively.

A fourth count was waived prior to giving the case to the jury due to the victim not testifying to the count, an official said.

The conditions of Dyba’s probation will be determined at a future hearing. That date has not been set yet.
