For the second straight year, the Vic Schaefer-led Texas women’s basketball team is in the Final Four.
The No. 1-seeded Longhorns have been one of the nation’s top teams throughout the 2025-26 campaign. That has been proven on the team’s NCAA Tournament run, where it has posted an average margin of victory of 35.5 points. After handling business against Michigan in the Elite Eight, Texas is shifting focus toward fellow No. 1 seed UCLA.

How Texas made it to the Final Four
The Longhorns have cruised through the NCAA Tournament. They started things off with an 87-45 first-round win over 16th-seeded Missouri State. Texas followed that up by defeating eighth-seeded Oregon 100-58 in the second round.
The dominant stretch continued on the tournament’s second weekend. In the Sweet 16, Texas defeated No. 5-seeded Kentucky 76-54. The momentum carried over into the Elite Eight, where Texas dominated No. 2-seeded Michigan 77-41.
How UCLA made it to the Final Four
Like Texas, UCLA has powered past opponents this March. The Bruins opened their NCAA Tournament run with a 96-43 first-round victory over 16th-seeded Cal Baptist. In the second round, they defeated eighth-seeded Oklahoma State 87-68.
UCLA then took down fourth-seeded Minnesota in the Sweet 16 by an 80-56 score. The Bruins punched their Final Four ticket by defeating third-seeded Duke 70-58 in the Elite Eight.
