Oracle undergoing layoffs as company moves toward AI

TEXAS — Oracle announced more layoffs this week as the company pushes deeper into artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, the company emailed affected employees Tuesday morning. While the exact number of layoffs is not clear at the moment, CNBC is reporting that “thousands of jobs” were cut.

According to TechSpot, more than 3,000 employees across the U.S., Canada and India were laid off last year.

Oracle employs 162,000 employees, according to its website. Oracle moved its headquarters to Austin from California. The company then announced in 2024 that it was moving its headquarters again to Nashville.
