El Paso’s own Julian Kalel continues to build momentum on American Idol, and his journey on the show continues!

This past episode of American Idol had the top 20 contestants facing the first live vote elimination of the season. Julian secured a spot in the Top 14, proving once again that he belongs on one of the biggest stages in music.

From his emotional audition to his standout performances in Hollywood Week and Ohana Night, Julian has consistently connected with both the judges and viewers through his vulnerability and message-driven music.

Julian Kalel Makes American Idol’s top 14

Most recently, Julian returned to the stage Monday night for American Idol’s songs of faith, delivering a heartfelt performance of Fix You by Coldplay. Taking on such an iconic and emotional song was not easy but Julian made it his own. His performance was both powerful and deeply moving, showcasing not only his vocal ability but also the emotion he brings to every note.

The judges were impressed, praising Julian for his authenticity and the way he continues to pour his heart into each performance. It’s that combination of talent and sincerity that has kept him moving forward in the competition.

Heading into the night, fans and viewers were expecting to find out which contestants would advance into the Top 12. However, in a surprising twist, the show announced that results would be delayed to ensure all votes are properly counted. *Cries in Spanish*

That means viewers will have to wait a little longer to see if Julian advances to the next round.

The results will now be revealed at the start of next week’s episode which means my anxiety will be at an all-time high this coming Monday, but in a good way. One thing is certain—El Paso will be watching closely.
