A body found burning in a ditch on the East Side had been bound and wrapped in layers of material.
Firefighters alerted police to the discovery after a brush fire about 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Rigsby Avenue, according to a San Antonio police report.
The man, listed as “Jon Doe,” was found lying on his left side and had been wrapped in what appeared to be a jacket and a shower curtain. His hands appeared to be bound, and multiple ropes and a plastic tote were found nearby.
Fire personnel pronounced the man dead at 7:44 a.m., according to the report.
Because of the condition of the body and indications of possible foul play, homicide detectives were called to the scene.
The report lists the case as a murder, though a cause of death and the man’s identity had not been released as of the initial report.
No arrests have been announced.
