Surprisingly, no. But we beat the biggest state in the USA – When it comes to heavily populated cities; Alaska’s got NUTHIN’ on us. (Though, they did beat a few others.)

Ok, yeah … in terms of having the most big cities … beating Alaska isn’t exactly challenging. Actually, only 2 states out of 50, (itty bitty ones), didn’t beat Alaska in that department. Texas spanked Alaska and every other state except California.

When it comes to cities with populations of 100,000 or better; it’s Caly – 79, Texas – 42.

California beat us by 37 cities, (almost twice as many), cities of 100,000 peeps or more. We, in turn, beat the 3rd place state, (Florida, 27), by 15 and, from there, the disparities get bigger and bigger.

States With The Most And Least “Big” Cities

Caly won at 79, followed by Texas and Florida to round out the podium. At the other end of the spectrum, the states with the fewest cities of 100K or better were super small ones along the east coast, (Sorry, I don’t know geography that well. You’ll have to figure out who’s who yourself.), and Wyoming. According to this graphic anyway …
Interesting, huh?? Texas, of course, always wins when it comes to “bigger” only, (occasionally), losing to Caly. We beat the left coast most of the time so, now and then, we gotta’ throw ’em a bone.
