In all seriousness, it appears the skateboarding legend who became a household legend in the 90s and early 2000s — many thanks to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater — went on a little tour of the Lone Star State this week, seeing what Texas’ skating rinks had to offer. He even made a pit stop for some world-famous Texas barbecue.

That’s right, no April Fool’s joke here. Hawk shared videos to his Instagram stories on Tuesday, March 31, of his pit stops in Austin and Waco. In Austin, Hawk visited Gaylord Sackler Memorial Skate Park, across the street from the Salvation Army, for some skateboarding fun. Then in Waco, Hawk went full California dude and traded his skateboard for a surfboard at Waco Surf water park. But don’t worry, Waco skateboarders, Hawk also left a signed skateboard at an undisclosed park, posting a video of it to his social media page.

But after so much excursion, Hawk had to eat and he ended up visiting The Original Black’s BBQ, the Lockhart-founded smokehouse that’s been an institution since 1932. Black’s BBQ posted a Facebook photo of Hawk visiting the barbecue joint, gaining over 300 likes as of Wednesday, April 1.

“The Original Black’s BBQ is Tony Hawk approved [meat emoji],” Black’s BBQ wrote. “You never know who’s gonna roll through our doors for a plate of Texas barbecue!”

Director of Austin Operations at Black’s BBQ, Barrett Black, confirmed with MySA that Hawk visited the brand’s Austin smokehouse at 3110 Guadalupe St., Austin, TX 78705. Black added that Hawk enjoyed a lean brisket sandwich and some mac and cheese, some of the most popular items at Black’s, adding that the team was starstruck by his appearance.

“My crew was very excited,” Black said to MySA. “I grew up in the 90s with watch the X games and playing N64 Tony Hawk Pro Skater, all that kind of stuff. But, like with any celebrity walking in, you get a little starstruck, but also it’s cool to see they’re just a normal dude and easy to talk to. So it’s pretty cool.”
