WOOD COUNTY, Texas (KETK) — An East Texas man was sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on March 26, following his guilty plea to manufacturing or delivery of about 25 grams of methamphetamine.

Stephen Henderson, 57, of Quitman, began his sentencing on March 26 and will have to pay the costs of court, as well.
Henderson was arrested on November 9, 2025, following a traffic stop on State Highway 154. During the stop, a deputy from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office asked Henderson to speak with him at the patrol unit. While talking, the deputy observed a plastic bag fall from Henderson’s pants and land under the patrol unit.
During the traffic stop, Henderson was asked to speak with a Wood County Sheriff’s Office deputy at his patrol unit. The deputy observed a plastic bag fall out of Henderson’s pants and be thrown under the patrol unit.
The plastic bag contained a white crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. A search of Henderson’s vehicle found hypodermic needles, a scale and another plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine residue.
The substance in the bag that fell out of Henderson’s pants tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed a total of 25.38 grams.
