LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech outdoor track and field team will be in Austin this weekend for the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The men’s side is entered in 21 events, while the women’s team is entered in 18 events.

What to Know
This will be the only time of the year you see Tech compete in events such as the 4×200, 4×800 and 1600 sprint medley relay. Also, the Texas Relays is comprised of hundreds of high schools not only from Texas but across the country in addition to pro track and field athletes, including many Olympians who open their outdoor season for the first time in 2026.
Tech will begin to compete as early as Thursday evening with the 400m hurdles prelims. Vanessa Balde, in her first race of the year last weekend, broke the school record with a time of 55.71, becoming the first Tech female athlete to go under 56 seconds.
Indoor all-American Malachi Snow will make his anticipated outdoor debut as he is slated to go in the 100m and 4×100. Both Red Raider 4×100 teams sit in the top 3 of the NCAA with the men leading at 38.53. Meanwhile, the women are No. 3 with a time of 43.02. Both teams will also debut a 4×400 “A” relay team this weekend.
The men’s pole vault team of Jackson Bragg, Sean Gribble and Sam Hurley are all tied for No. 3 in the country with a mark of 5.54m (18-2). Indoor triple jump medalist last month, Tamiah Washington will only compete in the long jump.
