A crash has totally shut down one of Texas’ busiest highways on Wednesday afternoon.

Drivers heading north on I-35 in New Braunfels are facing heavy traffic as they head toward San Marcos and Austin on Wednesday, April 1. TxDOT confirmed the high-severity crash at 3:57 p.m., initially shutting down all three lanes and both shoulders before reopening most of them. The far right lane and shoulder remain closed at I-35 and Watson Lane East as of 4:22 p.m. Wednesday.

Traffic site SigAlert describes the crash area as I-35 (Northeast Side) North between Watson Lane/Exit 195 and FM-1102/Exit 196. Traffic is reportedly backed up to FM-306/Exit 191, with delays up to 30 minutes expected as drivers are forced onto the frontage road.

For those unfamiliar with Texas maps, the crash occurred just past the Buc-ee’s at 2760 I-35, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
