1. Hill Country College Preparatory High School closed for rest of week following shooting

Hill County College Preparatory High School announced that it will stay closed for the rest of the week after a student shot a teacher before taking his own life on Monday morning.

Comal Independent School District Superintendent John E. Chapman III invited the community to wear blue ribbons to show support for the teacher, who is still in the hospital. Authorities have not provided any updates on her condition or injuries.

2. Small business owner grapples with new Texas THC rules

Customers going back to the streets for cannabis is a reality that Estella Castro is hearing often. She owns the Austinite Cannabis Company.

Leading up to Tuesday, the store had its biggest sale in its six-year history with up to 50% off smokable THC products. Everything smokable must go, which makes up 42% of Castro’s sales. A majority of her edible products must also be repackaged in child proof packaging.

3. Overnight road work keeps Texas highways moving amid massive construction push

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) currently has more than $60 billion worth of active construction projects underway statewide, with about $8 billion concentrated in the agency’s Dallas District, which spans seven counties.

With such a large volume of projects in progress, transportation officials say overnight construction remains a critical strategy to maintain and improve infrastructure while minimizing disruptions to drivers.
