Birkenstocks are a shoe staple for celebrities, the average Joe and granola enthusiasts alike. Now, the iconic sandal’s influence is expanding in Texas, where shoppers will soon have access to discounted inventory at a new outlet store in San Marcos.
The store will be Birkenstock’s first outlet in Texas, offering deals on unique inventory straight from the company’s overstock. The San Marcos Premiun Outlets said the store will open in April.

The German shoe manufacturer traces its history to 1774 and is best known for its classic slide-on sandals made with a signature cork-latex footbed and suede lining.
Birkenstock currently has other outlet stores at the Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets in Florida and the San Francisco Premium Outlets in California, both of which are owned by the San Marcos Premium Outlets’ parent company, Simon Premium Outlets.
San Marcos Premium Outlets is at 3939 Interstate 35 in San Marcos, about 45 minutes south of Austin.
Birkenstock operates more than 70 store locations worldwide, with 11 of those in the U.S. One of the brand’s two Texas stores is at 1007 South Congress Ave. in Austin. The other is in Houston.
