SAN ANTONIO – A 30-year-old man was taken into custody Wednesday after a missing juvenile was found at a property on the far West Side.
Authorities say the case unfolded around 10:16 a.m. April 1 near Potranco Road between Grossenbacher Road and Loop 1604, where the juvenile was believed to be staying.
When deputies arrived, people at the property directed them to a small structure in the back. Jared Jay Ortiz came out of the building and spoke with deputies, telling them he had seen a girl in the area the night before.
When asked if the missing juvenile was inside, Ortiz said she was not and refused to let deputies enter. Moments later, deputies called out the girl’s name, and she responded from inside, confirming she was there.
The juvenile was brought out safely, and Ortiz is charged with harboring a runaway.
