Wolfforth librarian receives prestigious state children’s award

  • April 2, 2026

WOLFFORTH, Texas (KCBD) – A City of Wolfforth librarian has been recognized with a statewide award for her service to children.

Taylor Revilla has worked at the City of Wolfforth Library for 13 years. She was recently honored with the Siddie Joe Johnson Award, given to one librarian in Texas each year for their ability to go above and beyond with their library service.

“I was shaking. I couldn’t believe it,” Revilla said.

Revilla started at the library as a high school senior in 2013. She has worked to bring educational opportunities to area children through storytimes at local childcare centers and visits with elementary and middle schools.

“Doing a storytime and getting to watch the kids reactions to reading and just watching their brains make these connections, it’s been a blast,” Revilla said.

Revilla has extended the library’s outreach into the Wolfforth community.

“It’s great to bring literacy awareness to everybody and show them that even though you’re not in school, you can come see us or we’re gonna come see you because these resources are free, you should use them,” Revilla said. “We have a lot of fun, books are fun, but also the learning that goes on in libraries is fun.”

Revilla said the recognition means the world to her.

“It was kind of surreal because I don’t do what I do for recognition, but I love what I do, so having somebody be able to see that like a whole panel that I love what I do and I’m doing it to the best of my abilities and for them to recognize that is pretty amazing,” Revilla said.

Revilla said she wants to create more programs and bring more things to Wolfforth residents.

“Wolfforth is growing, and as it grows, there needs to be more things for families to do, especially free things for families to do,” Revilla said. “And to be kind of that community center here is really important.”

Revilla said her job brings her joy and being able to show why learning is fun is worth it.
