PLANO, Ky. (WBKO) – At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, the Warren County Fire Department was dispatched to the 1400 block of Plano Road.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Plano, Woodburn, Alvaton and Browning stations.
When crews arrived, they found a detached garage on fire.
Two cars inside the garage, along with three nearby structures and a nearby residence, were also affected.
Witness, Andrew Conway, said he heard explosions moments before the garage went into flames.
“So I was checking my oil a couple times. All of a sudden I heard a loud explosion. And I thought it might have been a gun at first or a car wreck. I didn’t know it was just a loud bang. It stopped me and I looked around and I saw smoke in the sky coming from that direction,” Conway said. “So, I just closed everything in my car, ran as fast as I could over there. Upon approaching the scene, it was engulfed in flames. Like the entire garage was already completely up in flames, but there was several explosions.”
Plano Fire Chief, Kevin Bailey, said the fire spread to a power pole, knocking out power for some individuals in the area.
Plano Road was also closed in both directions near the Red Rock Market and gas station, while crews were working to control the fire.
Warren County Fire Department said in a release that the incident was brought under control in a relatively short time and was scaled back within about 30 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
