Corpus Christi police investigate shooting near Red Roof INN on SPID; 2 hospitalized

Corpus Christi police are investigating a shooting along South Padre Island Drive.

Officers were called to the 6800 block od SPID near the Red Roof Inn after reports of gunfire.

When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds and began first aid until EMS took over.

As the investigation unfolded, officers found a second man at a separate location who had also been shot. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.

Police say the shooting appears to have started as some kind of disturbance that escalated.

Detectives are still working to piece together exactly what happened and are continuing to talk with witnesses. If someone is arrested, they could face a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
