COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M baseball‘s starting rotation has faced difficulties since conference play began, and Friday doesn’t get any easier.

Due to expected rain, the Aggies will host Vanderbilt for a doubleheader, adding more pressure to an already strained pitching staff.

Game 1, A&M allowed 18 hits and five home runs in a 14-8 loss. Now, the Aggies will rely on their usual Saturday starter Weston Moss to even the series, while Sunday starter Aiden Sims will be called upon a day earlier than usual.

The Commodores are second in the nation in home runs (68) and continued their power display in Game 1, with designated hitter Colin Barczi, who hit three home runs Thursday, doubling his season total.

A&M did its best to hang on, hitting five home runs of its own. But ultimately, the Aggies managed only four more hits that night.

Vandy entered the weekend ranked 15th in the conference for pitching. Now, both staffs will be put to the test for a dozen or more innings.
