Federal authorities in Atlanta arrested a man accused of the armed kidnapping and robbery of rap titan Gucci Mane in a Dallas recording studio earlier this year, closing out the roundup of nine men charged in the case.
Federal agents arrested Terrance Rodgers in Atlanta on Thursday afternoon, Jenna Sellitto, a spokesperson for the FBI’s Atlanta field office, said in a statement Friday.
The arrest came hours after North Texas’ top federal prosecutor held a news conference to publicly lay out the case for the first time, saying eight of the nine men who carried out the “coordinated, armed takeover” had already been arrested and Rodgers would be “soon.”
It was not clear whether Rodgers had an attorney. If convicted, each of the men faces a sentence of up to life imprisonment.
Court records unsealed earlier this week allege Rodgers took part in the Jan. 10 kidnapping and robbery of Radric Davis, who performs as Gucci Mane, and two other music industry figures.
Prosecutors also allege two notable Memphis rappers were involved: Lontrell Williams Jr., the performer known as Pooh Shiesty, whom they describe as the ringleader, and Rodney Wright Jr., who performs as Big30.
Williams is accused of pitching the Jan. 10 meeting with Davis to discuss the terms of a recording contract. The rapper signed with Davis’ label, 1017 Records, years earlier.
According to the court records, Rodgers is accused of robbing one of the men at gunpoint, searching his pockets and taking his wallet. Prosecutors say Rodgers left behind fingerprint evidence on a red Solo cup at the studio.
Days after the robbery, Rodgers appeared on social media with what they believed was a stolen Rolex taken in the robbery, according to court records.
At the news conference, Jeremy Wright, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas field office, said seven of the men were taken into custody in Memphis and Nashville, while one was in Frisco.
