CANYON, Texas – The #14 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M continue Lone Star Conference action on Tuesday night as they welcome the league-leading Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps to the WTAMU Fieldhouse with first serve set for 6:00 p.m. in Canyon.
 
LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
The Lady Chaps enter the week sitting atop of the Lone Star Conference standings with an unbeaten 11-0 record as they are 19-4 overall on the season. LCU rides a 15-game win streak into Tuesday night which is the fifth longest in DII Volleyball behind Fresno Pacific (23), Tampa (19), Wingate (19) and Spring Hill (17).
 
Keith Giboney is now in his fifth season at the helm of the LCU volleyball program, being named the school’s seventh head coach in 2021. He holds an overall record of 80-51 in Lubbock to go along with a career mark of 453-222 over 20 seasons. Overall, Giboney has four NCAA Tournament appearances, seven conference championships, and more than 445 career wins to his credit. He notched his 400th victory on Oct. 30, 2021, against UT Permian Basin inside LCU’s Rip Griffin Center.
 
Giboney’s volleyball roots in Lubbock date back to 1993, when he guided Lubbock Christian High School to three TAPPS state titles in four seasons with a 110-25 record. He later moved to Dallas Christian High School, winning another TAPPS title in a two-year stint before transitioning to the NCAA Division II ranks at Harding University in Searcy, Ark.
 
Emilee Sikora leads the way offensively for the Lady Chaps as the freshman outside hitter from San Angelo has tallied 251 kills on 725 swings with 91 errors for a .221 attack percentage to go along with six assists, five aces, 119 digs and 33 total blocks. 
 
Camdyn Sears guides the LCU offense as the freshman from Midland has dished out 874 assists to average 10.40 per set, the Lady Chaps have registered 1,203 kills on 3,348 attempts to average 14.0 kills per frame with an attack percentage of .228.
 
A LOOK AT THE SERIES

Tuesday night marks the 46th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Lady Chaps in a series that dates back to 1980. West Texas A&M has won the last five meetings while also holding an 11-game win streak over LCU at the WTAMU Fieldhouse. Both meetings last season came in Canyon including a sweep by the Lady Buffs in the LSC Quarterfinals.
 
AROUND THE LSC

After five weeks of Lone Star Conference Volleyball league play, only one team is unbeaten at 11-0: Lubbock Christian. LCU (19-4 overall) has won 15 matches in a row. No. 14 West Texas A&M (17-4, 9-1 LSC) has won nine matches in a row, Oklahoma Christian (14-7, 6-4 LSC) has four consecutive  matches. Conference matches continue this week on Tuesday (Oct. 28), Friday (Oct. 31) and Saturday (Nov. 1).
 
WELCOME TO THE BOX

West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as “The Box,” is home to 22 Lone Star Conference Championships, 16 Regional Titles and four NCAA Division II National Championships. 
 
The Box boasts one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 566-85 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.7%.
 
This season has seen the Lady Buffs go a perfect 12-0 inside of The Box with a 6-0 mark during LSC action in Canyon. The Lady Buffs have registered 14-unbeaten seasons at WTAMU Fieldhouse with the last coming in 2023 (18-0).
 
LSC PRESEASON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Senior middle blocker Taytum Stow was named the 2025 Lone Star Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year announced on Monday, August 25th. The Hereford product ed the league with 138 blocks (1.27 per set) on her way to a second LSC Defensive Player of the Year Award (also 2022). Stow was also third in the LSC with a .364 hitting percentage and earned honorable mention All-American status.
 
THE GAMBLE ERA
Three-time National Champion and NJCAA Hall of Famer Terry Gamble was named the 17th head coach in Lady Buff Volleyball history on February 4, 2025. Gamble has compiled a record of 1,107-349 (.759) as he was just the third head coach in NJCAA history to reach 1,000 career wins on October 15, 2024.
 
Gamble came to Canyon following seven seasons at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. Gamble was named the Regional Coach of the Year for the third time, leading Blinn College to their fifth straight NJCAA National Tournament. He was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 after winning three NJCAA volleyball championships (2000, 2004, 2006) and three NJCAA Coach of the Year awards.
 
LADY BUFFS IN THE AVCA POLL
The Lady Buffs sit 14th in the newest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon. It marks the 325th time since 1986 that the Lady Buffs appear in the poll, the sixth most in Division II history. WT has sat atop of the poll 28 different times including twice during the 2023 campaign
