Dallas Trinity FC took care of business against Spokane Zephyr FC with a 3-1 win at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity opened the scoring in the 15th minute when a Heather Stainbrook shot from inside the box was mishandled by Spokane’s defense, resulting in an own goal by defender Kelsey Oyler.
Dallas captain Amber Brooks doubled the lead shortly after the halftime break when she converted a penalty won by Samar Guidry. Zephyr defender Ally Cook bundled over Guidry, conceding the spot kick in the 47th minute.
Spokane found a glimmer of hope late when substitute Catherine Rapp found the back of the net in the 88th minute, but Dallas quickly snuffed that out. Jenny-Julia Danielsson responded just three minutes later to restore Trinity’s two-goal cushion and secure the three points.
The win gives Dallas a six-point gap on DC Power FC for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Gainbridge Super League with only six games left in the regular season.
Trinity’s next game is Sunday, April 12 on the road against Brooklyn FC.
