AUSTIN, Texas — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who allegedly assaulted someone with a baseball bat in downtown Austin over the summer.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on June 1 in the 300 block of Colorado Street, according to the Austin Police Department.

Police said the assault happened after the victim “picked up a crown from the ground,” which “seemingly provoked” the suspect. The victim sustained non-serious injuries.
The suspect is described as a Black man in his early 30s with a medium build, short black hair and a mustache. The photos released by the department show him holding the baseball bat in one hand and the crown in the other.
Anyone with information about the incident can submit an anonymous tip through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
