EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Disabled American veterans in El Paso are getting a boost from a nationwide effort aimed at giving back and recognizing their service.
KFOX14 is partnering with its parent company, Sinclair, in a nationwide campaign to honor disabled American veterans.
In El Paso, DAV Chapter 10 said its work goes beyond volunteering, helping veterans get to medical appointments, navigate benefits and access services they may not know they are entitled to.
The group also trains service officers and caregivers and said it relies on volunteers to make that support possible.
“We give them the quality of life that they deserve or need, we provide care, pay their bills, help do financing, we educate them in the things that are available for them as veterans, many of them do not know hwats avaiable for them under the government programs,” said Wilfred Garza, commander of DAV Chapter 10.
The campaign is encouraging the community to join the “Sinclair Cares: D-A-V Community Impact Day” effort and thank veterans.
Volunteer opportunities and donation information are available through Action on April 4. More information is available at sinclaircares.com.
