WASHINGTON (TNND) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Monday that they arrested two Chinese nationals who have children connected to an attempted improvised explosive device attack.
“On March 18, ICE detained Chinese illegal aliens Qiu Qin Zou and Jia Zhang Zheng, who entered the U.S. at an unknown place,” ICE posted a statement on X.
The agency said that their children are connected to an attempted IED attack at an Air Force base in Florida.
“The children of these Chinese nationals, Ann Mary Zheng and Alen Zheng, who were born in the U.S. after their parents illegally entered the country, are connected to the attempted IED attack at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida,” the post continued.
Ann Mary has already been arrested and authorities believe that her brother is still in China.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a press release the incident underscores the severe national security threat that illegal immigration has caused the U.S.

“Automatically granting citizenship to children of illegal aliens born in the U.S. is based on a historically inaccurate interpretation of the Citizenship Clause and poses a major national security risk,” she said. “That reality became apparent last week when two U.S.-born children of Chinese illegal aliens were indicted for planting a potentially deadly explosive device outside MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. This incident underscores the severe national security threat that illegal immigration and birth right citizenship pose to the United States.”
