The Houston Fire Department had to rescue a man who was stuck inside a chimney. He was charged with burglary after he was cut out of the stone.
HOUSTON — A man in his 30s will be facing charges after the Houston Fire Department said they had to cut him out of the chimney of a Southwest Houston home.
The Houston Police Department said it received a call just before 1 a.m. on Easter Sunday to a residence on Tooley Drive, in a neighborhood near where the Southwest Freeway meets the Beltway.
The homeowner said she was downstairs when she started hearing strange noises and heard a male voice coming from inside the chimney. Police said the man started yelling for help.
After firefighters were called to assist, they told the homeowners they would have to break through the stone to get the suspect out. He was stuck for roughly two hours before he was finally pulled out, according to the homeowners.
The suspect, identified by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, is 35-year-old Edwin Leonel Salmeron Granados.
Investigators said he will be charged with burglary of a habitation. He was taken to a local hospital and is still awaiting arraignment.
