Austin ISD’s assistant superintendent of elementary schools said Carlos Ceniceros Nava was placed on administrative leave when the allegation was first reported.

AUSTIN, Texas — A teacher at Winn Montessori School in Austin has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony.

In a letter to the Winn community, Jennifer Pace, the district’s assistant superintendent of elementary schools, said Carlos Ceniceros Nava was arrested by Austin ISD Police Department officers. Pace said Ceniceros Nava has been a primary class teacher – teaching pre-K, pre-4 and kindergarten students – since November 2023.

Pace said Ceniceros Nava was placed on administrative leave when the allegation was first reported, and he has remained off-campus and had no contact with students throughout the AISD PD investigation.

Pace said the district is limited on what it can say about the allegations and Ceniceros Nava’s arrest. The investigation is active, and anyone who believes they have relevant information is encouraged to contact AISD PD at 512-414-1703.
