WTNH anchor Ken Houston has departed from the New Haven-based news station, bringing an end to his five-year tenure.
Colleagues Laura Hutchinson and Lajeune Hollis shared posts on social media about Houston’s departure.
“This guy is ALWAYS ready to smile and have a great time on any assignment and I’ll miss him so much,” Hutchinson wrote in a Facebook post dedicated to Houston. “So many laughs. Amazing storyteller, anchor and friend! We’ll miss you at WTNH, Ken Houston!”
Hollis also said that she was going to “miss this guy both as a friend and as an award-winning news anchor” in an Instagram post shared on Apr. 3. Houston’s last day was Thursday, according to Hollis’ post.
Houston started at WTNH in March 2021, reporting for Good Morning Connecticut. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Houston has reported in stations across the country, including his home state, Tennessee, as well as New York and Michigan.
Houston graduated from the University of Kansas where he majored in radio, television and film.
In March, the Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. Justice Department signed off on Nexstar’s acquisition of Tegna, a television broadcaster whose stations include Hartford-based Fox 61 and WCCT.
The lawsuit filed by Tong and the attorneys general from California, Colorado, Illinois, North Carolina, Oregon and Virginia alleges that the merger clearly violates the Clayton Antitrust Act of 1914, which says that mergers that substantially lessen competition or tend to create a monopoly are illegal.
