Two men were shot and injured during a robbery attempt in Fort Worth early Sunday, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting call about 5 a.m., in the 3300 block of S Hughes Street, Fort Worth police said.

When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. One victim had a gunshot wound to the lower face area and the other victim was shot in the thigh, police said.

The victims and witnesses told detectives that a group of men approached them and told them to give them their valuables. When one of the victims refused the suspects opened fire, police said.

Police said the suspects fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
