Hide, a cocktail bar on Dallas’ Lower Greenville, has closed after nearly a decade in business.

“It was a good nine-year run,” owner Nick Backlund said. “We had a lot of fun doing it.”

Backlund said permitting challenges with the city of Dallas led him to close the bar in late March 2026. Over the last three and a half years, he said, he tried to obtain a permit from the city that would allow Hide to stay open until 2 a.m., two hours longer than its closing time of midnight.

He said he spent thousands of dollars to conduct a noise study and prove the bar was not a disturbance to the neighborhood, but that didn’t make a difference.

The Dallas Morning News reached out to a city spokesperson for comment by email on Monday but did not immediately hear back.

“I love Lower Greenville, it’s a great neighborhood,” Backlund said. “I loved doing business there and appreciate the support the neighborhood gave us over the years.”

Backlund also owns Abby’s Bagels in Lower Greenville. As far as next plans, he said he may open a few more Abby’s locations.
