In a move fitting for spooky season, one of Southtown’s most-missed restaurants is coming back from the dead. At least for a little while.

Feast, which operated from 2011 to 2020 in the space now housing Little Em’s Oyster Bar, will resurrect its original menu at Battalion this winter for a limited-time takeover, according details shared with the Current.

The Feast pop-up menu will be available Wednesday, Nov. 5, through the end of the year, allowing diners to enjoy fan favorites such as sweet corn fritters with smoked jalapeño cream cheese, Chermoula-marinated chicken, the Feast double burger and green harissa mussels with white wine, among other highlights. Some favorites from Battalion may remain on the menu.

Feast’s “royal court” of cocktails also will return for the takeover, according to Battalion officials. The Queen cocktail reigns with elderflower and vodka, while the King commands attention with a classic blend of bourbon, vermouth, and orange bitters. Other drinks in the court include the Jester, a tequila and grapefruit sparkler, and the Duke, a cozy mix of apple cider and bourbon.

Depending on demand, the Feast pop-up could expand to include brunch favorites and extended weekend hours, noted the team at Battalion, 604 S Alamo St, which normally specializes in classic Italian fare. The takeover also will incorporate design nods from the original Southtown space, adding an extra dose of nostalgia for longtime fans.

“It has been a while since a new restaurant opened on South Alamo, and the Feast sharing menu was always popular with parties, couples and friends,” Battalion owner Andrew Goodman said in a statement.

Goodman opened Feast in 2011 with founding chef Stefan Bowers, and the restaurant quickly became one of Southtown’s buzziest upscale dining spots, known for its inventive shareable plates and sleek atmosphere.

“Merging the reputation and location of Battalion with the sharing plates from Feast is a great way to enter the holiday season and see out 2025,” Goodman added in his statement.
