EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – A fire that sparked Monday afternoon south of Fountain is now fully contained.
At 4:06 p.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office ordered evacuations for a 1/2 radius of 20710 Outback View, west of Prairie Heights Elementary School in the Hanover area, for the “Outback View” fire. The order was lifted just before 6 p.m.
According to Hanover Fire Chief Carl Tatum, a mobile home originally caught fire and then spread to the surrounding grass. Tatum said that one other home that was in the process of being demolished and an outbuilding were also destroyed in the fire.
No one was reported injured.
According to the fire chief, 65 to 70 firefighters from Hanover, Fountain Fort Carson, Security, Stratmoor, Cimarron Hills, Tri-Lakes Monument and Falcon were on scene.
The fire burned 50 to 75 acres before being contained. As of 7:30 p.m., the fire chief said there were still some hot spots in the bottom of the initial structure that caught fire.
Fire investigators are on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
