A new credit union is opening up in East El Paso.
Nusenda Credit Union was launched in 1936 as Albuquerque Public Schools Federal Credit Union when eight educators came together with the vision of providing resources to teachers and their families. Today, the credit union serves hundreds of thousands of members in more than 500 businesses, nonprofits and educational institutions across the Southwest.

The largest credit union in New Mexico, Nusenda offers wide range of services beyond simple banking, including financial capability programs, economic opportunity programs and well-being initiatives.
Where is it?
The new Nusenda Credit Union will be located at 6201 Edgemere Blvd. in East El Paso, according to the city’s permit and licensing page.
The new credit union is located at the intersection of Edgemere Boulevard and Geronimo Drive, just behind Signature Medical Uniforms and across the street from a Dollar Tree. Nearby are an Office Depot, a Walgreens and a Costco near Bassett Place mall.
What was there before?
The new Nusenda Credit Union is being built on the former site of a bridal boutique.

The site, however, will feature construction of a new, standalone facility with spaces to support Nusenda’s banking functions. Square-footage for the project was not provided on the city’s website.
Who is the contractor?
The contractor for the project is not listed on the city’s website, but the applicant is Christian Mijares ofMijares-Mora Architects, Inc. in El Paso. The owner is listed as Goldtex Partners, LLC.
The project is valued at $4 million.
