DALLAS – Police have cordoned off a section of downtown Dallas as investigators examine a suspicious package discovered Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The Dallas Police Department reported that officers are actively investigating the item in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue, an area located near the city’s historic West End district.
Officials have not yet provided a description of the package or the specific circumstances surrounding its discovery. However, the heavy police presence has prompted significant traffic disruptions throughout the downtown core.
Public safety officials are urging motorists to avoid the immediate vicinity until further notice. The following alternate routes have been recommended to bypass the scene:
East/West Travel: Ross Avenue or Commerce Street.North/South Travel: Griffin Street or Houston Street.
