CANUTILLO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Canutillo Independent School District Board of Trustees called on residents to participate in a Community Input Session on Monday as part of its search for a new superintendent.
In an effort to involve the community in the selection process of a new superintendent, which is expected to be appointed by the end of January, the district held a community input session at Canutillo High School’s cafeteria on Monday evening.
The session, facilitated by the Texas Association of School Boards, was open to all community members, including parents, alumni, and taxpayers, who were encouraged to share their thoughts on the qualities and challenges the next superintendent should address.
According to the district, the feedback collected is expected to help shape the leadership profile used to evaluate potential candidates.
The community session follows feedback already gathered from staff, students, and local leaders.
Gustavo Reveles, a spokesperson for Canutillo ISD, expressed enthusiasm about the process. “We’re really excited about this opportunity to hear from the community, really excited about what it’ll do to make sure that we pick a superintendent, and by we, I mean the school board picks a superintendent that will really take us into the next era of Canutillo ISD,” he told KFOX14/CBS4.
The district plans to conduct interviews with candidates next month and hopes to name a sole finalist by the end of December.
Those who missed the meeting still have the opportunity to provide feedback until Wednesday by filling out a survey here.
The district said it encourages participation, stating that every comment will be reviewed and considered in the decision-making process.
