LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – As part of the ‘Take a Bite Out of Hunger’ program, The United Family donated 10,530 pounds of apples to the South Plains Food Bank today. This marks the sixteenth year of donations to the program, sponsored by FirstFruits Farms, which created it to help feed underserved communities and bring attention to the food insecurity.
This donation is part of United Family’s broader goal to donate more that 50,000 pounds of apples to various food banks and organizations. Over the Take a Bite Out of Hunger program’s duration, United Family has donated more that 650,000 pounds of apples.
