LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The four major polls released their updated rankings yesterday and today as we begin week nine of the 2026 season. The Red Raiders moved to No. 1 in three of the four polls and remained at No. 2 in the other poll.
D1Softball, ESPN/USA Softball and the NFCA had Tech back at No. 1 while Softball America had Tech at No. 2 and Alabama at No. 1 after taking two of three against then-No. 1 Texas last weekend.
The Red Raiders are on the second-longest winning streak in the country currently at 13 games behind Florida State. Texas Tech’s one-two punch of NiJaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry has been as good as anyone in the country this season, combining 30 of the team’s 38 wins this season. Terry and Jackie Lis have been two of the hottest hitters in the Big 12 over the past few weeks. Lis was named Big 12 Player of the Week last week and Terry rode a 26-game hit streak into last weekend to set a new school record.
Tech will have six games in six days, beginning on Friday against Utah and ending on Wednesday against Texas State all on the road.
