Harris County DA to share progress on clearing backlog of criminal cases
HOUSTON – A former Houston-area public official accused of misusing millions in public housing funds intended for affordable housing projects has pleaded guilty of misappropriation of funds.
Todd Edwards, the former head of the Midtown Redevelopment Authority, will be sentenced on June 9, 2026, at 10 a.m.
He is facing 5-20 years in prison.

Edwards was previously accused of improperly diverting millions of dollars connected to housing developments in Houston’s Third Ward.
Authorities allege the money was meant to support public housing initiatives.
The case stems from a broader investigation into the use of public funds tied to housing and redevelopment efforts in the Houston area.
