Lubbock fire officials looking for suspect in apartment complex arson

  • April 9, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Fire Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying and finding a suspect believed to have intentionally started a fire at an apartment complex near the 2300 block of West Loop 289.

Lubbock Fire Rescue received a 911 call at approximately 4 p.m. reporting a fire that had started next to an apartment building and was rapidly spreading toward nearby structures. First-arriving units encountered heavy smoke coming from the rear of the apartment complex.

Fire crews contained and extinguished the fire before it could extend into the apartment building. The fire was contained to a patch of grass and a fence line, preventing further damage to the structure and surrounding residences.

Investigators with the Fire Marshal’s Office looked at surveillance footage from the area. The video appears to show an individual intentionally igniting the grass before fleeing the scene.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 806-775-2646 or fireprevention@mylubbock.us.
