If you’re looking for some affordable, family-friendly fun this spring, you’re in luck: Strawberries are ripe and waiting to be picked.

Strawberry season in Central Texas runs from March through May, making April a peak picking time. Here are a few Austin-area farms with pick-your-own strawberry fields.

There is no admission or parking fee to access the 152-acre Sweet Berry Farm. Instead, guests pay for the fruit they pick and the activities in which they participate. A Sweet Berry Farm basket, which costs $1.50 plus tax, is required for picking — however, guests can return with their Sweet Berry Farm baskets from previous years at no charge.

Strawberries are $3.75 per pound, and Sweet Berry Farm accepts cash, checks and credit or debit cards. While guests pay for what they pick, there is no minimum or maximum weight. The farm has a strawberry-picking guide with visuals.

For those planning to visit, Sweet Berry Farm strongly recommends checking its “Fresh News” page for the latest farm updates.

No general admission ticket is required for strawberry-picking at the 80-acre Sweet Eats Fruit Farm. Guests can pay a $3 field access fee upon check-in, but the fee may be waived if the guest has a general admission ticket. Strawberries are $4.25 per pound.

Sweet Eats may close due to weather, so it’s recommended to check their Facebook page for the latest updates.

At the roughly 65-acre Jenschke Orchards, guests can pick their own strawberries for $4 per pound, with an additional $2 per picking box. Mornings are peak picking time.

On one day per week, Jenschke Orchards organizes a wagon ride for strawberry pickers. Check their Facebook page for more information.
