LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock man pleaded guilty Thursday morning to murdering two people and their dog near Mackenzie Park back in September of 2024.
27-year-old Justin Aleman pleaded guilty in the 364th District Court to two counts of murder and cruelty to a non-livestock animal and killing the animal.
Judge William Eichman sentenced Aleman to 50 years in prison for each murder count and 10 years for animal cruelty. His sentences will run concurrently. He must serve half his sentence before he’s eligible for parole.
On the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 10, officers responded to a shots fired call in the 300 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive.
Upon arrival, officers found Angel Aleman dead at the scene. Lydia Hernandez was taken to UMC where she died shortly after arriving.
24-year-old Joziah Aleman is also facing charges in connection with the double murder. Joziah remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $85,000 bond.
