SAN ANTONIO – Judson Independent School District officials say Superintendent Dr. Milton “Rob” Fields III has withdrawn his request for an independent hearing related to his proposed termination, shifting the process back to the district’s board for a final decision.

According to a district press release, Fields’ withdrawal ends the formal hearing process that would have allowed a state-appointed examiner to review the case. Instead, the Judson ISD Board of Trustees will now move forward with considering final action on his employment contract.

Under Texas law, when a hearing is not pursued, school boards may proceed directly from a proposed termination to a final decision.

The development comes weeks after a judge ruled the district did not violate the Texas Open Meetings Act in how it posted a January agenda item tied to possible action against Fields. The ruling followed a legal challenge alleging the agenda language was too vague, though the court found it sufficient.
