EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso city officials say the city has passed its external audit, with independent reviewers finding its finances in order.

A clean audit opinion, also known as an unmodified opinion, is the highest opinion an independent external auditor can issue. City leaders said the reviewers combed through the city’s annual financial report and determined that everything is operating exactly as it should be.

Officials said the results mean the city’s books are accurate and fully up to professional standards.

“This milestone reflects a decade of disciplined financial management and a strong culture of accountability across our organization,” Mayor Renard U. Johnson said. “It allows us to continue delivering reliable services while maintaining the trust of our community.”

City Manager Dionne Mack said the result is tied to consistent work across departments. “Clean audits are the result of strong oversight, clear policies, and coordination across departments,” Mack said. “This reflects the daily work happening across the organization to make sure public resources are managed responsibly.”

The city’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report includes detailed information about its finances, including what it owns, what it owes, how much money it receives, and how that money is spent. The report is available on the city’s website.
