Who said in-person shopping is dead? A new indoor retail center, complete with dining, games, clothing, and more, is headed to San Antonio.
The Shops at Bandera Road is slated for the city’s Northwest Side, near the Leon Valley and Balcones Heights areas. Property Manager Barbara Tovar says it will be unlike anything in the neighborhood.
“We want to create a new elevated shopping experience for new and used items in hopes of getting away from the ‘flea market’ stigma,” Tovar told MySA. “The thrill of having a variety of vendors are all the unique finds and one-of-a-kind items you can come across.”
With long, airy hallways, bohemian-style light fixtures, and colorful restaurant spaces, it’s set to revamp what was previously Bandera Flea Market & Bingo. Folks can expect it to take up over 56,000 square feet at 1331 Bandera Road.
A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing shows that the building got an exterior makeover three years ago, costing investors an estimated half a million dollars. Construction tasks to make it what it is now formally began in July of 2025, according to Tovar.
“The area is being revitalized by new businesses, both locally and nationally owned,” Tovar said. “There is no business like ours in the vicinity and we are excited to bring a breath of new life to this area.”
The center will host over 100 10-by10 and 14-by-21-sized cubicles for vendors to rent, according to its social media page. That means visitors will have an abundance of products to choose from, and entrepreneurs have a new place to sell.
Currently, the lineup includes sports collectibles and memorabilia, designer vintage clothing, jewelers, custom perfumers, vinyl records, custom tees, and artisan jewelry. Tovar says confirmed sellers for the space are Little Treasures, Adelore Fashion Boutique, Wick3d Love, Fern’s Goodies, and Olfactory Obsession.
But it doesn’t stop at retail. The hub will also feature spaces for locals to chat and hang out. It will contain a billiards hall with pool tables and TVs, a sports bar screening popular competitions live, and a food court. There, residents can grab quick bites such as Philly Cheesesteaks, wings, burgers, tacos, and flautas. A menu with prices has already been published on the Shops at Bandera Road website.
Curious about how soon you can check it out? A grand opening is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 2, according to Tovar. Its operating hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, according to the property’s social media page.
The price to rent a vendor booth starts at $470. Businesses can learn more by visiting the website.
