There’s a special kind of regret that hits right after you buy something you absolutely did not need. Not groceries. Not bills. We’re talking about the kind of purchase where, even as you’re handing over your card, a tiny voice in your head whispers, “This is a mistake.”

So naturally, The RockShow with Chrissy and Wes took it upon ourselves to ask Lubbock: what’s the most unnecessary thing you’ve ever bought? You guys took the question and RAN with it. Thanks for giving us all a heads-up on what to avoid on our next shopping trip!

Some answers were practical, I guess…in theory. Like, the bottle washer that allegedly saves “eleven million hours,” or the extended home warranty that exists purely for peace of mind (and monthly payments). Others were a little more emotional—like flowers that “always die,” or lottery tickets that continue to fund someone else’s dream life. Why don’t we ever win the big one?

Then there were a few truly questionable purchases…

One person went out for a night of pizza and came home with a brand new Corvette. Things escalated. Big time. Another person admitted to buying a piece of VHS cover art from a 1979 movie. Weird. A few people admitted their marriage licenses weren’t worth what they thought they would be, either…

And, well, Lubbock wouldn’t be Lubbock with some extra chaos sprinkled on top. A hypno toad, a squatty potty, and a spare tire cover were all noted to have been very useless purchases.

Honestly, the takeaway is that nobody around here is safe. At some point, we will buy something ridiculous again, whether out of boredom, curiosity, or sheer impulse. It’s going to happen.
