SAN ANTONIO – A driver experiencing a mental health episode crashed into a concrete median along U.S. Highway 90 West and was taken to a hospital Thursday morning.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 6:16 a.m. on 04/10/2026 to the 9100 block of U.S. Highway 90 W EB for a major accident involving one vehicle that hit a concrete median.
Police said multiple people passing by saw the driver near the vehicle’s tires after the crash. It was not known how the driver exited the vehicle at that time.
SAPD said the driver, described as a male, was evading officers on a busy highway and was uncooperative in walking back to the vehicle. Police said he was assisted as a safety precaution for both the driver and officers involved.
The driver was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. No major injuries were reported at the scene, police said.
The investigation was ongoing, and police said information could change.
