One of Fort Worth’s favorite sons is working on a new project.
Bridges mentioned the news as he and his Big Good co-founder (and former TCU coach) Gary Patterson welcomed guests to the River Ranch Stockyards.
“I’m gearing up to drop a new album,” Bridges told the crowd of hundreds. “I don’t know the release date yet, but I think it’s my best work yet.”
Bridges didn’t mention anything else about the new album, just that it was on the way.
In the rollout for Leon, Bridges said it was his most personal record yet as it captured his memories of growing up in Fort Worth. Several of the songs contain references to the city, including “Panther City,” which itself points toward Fort Worth’s old nickname.
During a sold-out concert at Dickies Arena in support of Leon in November 2024, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker presented Bridges with a proclamation declaring Nov. 15 as “Leon Bridges Day.”
“We love Leon Bridges and we are so proud of him and so excited to see what he does next,” Parker said at the time.
Bridges’ new album will be his fifth overall.
His debut, Coming Home, released in 2015 and was followed by Good Thing in 2018 and Gold-Diggers Sound in 2021.
