Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley will handle the head coaching duties for the Aviators game against Dallas on Sunday, according to the UFL president.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State wide receiver and current Columbus Aviators head coach Ted Ginn Jr. was booked into a jail in Texas ahead of the team’s scheduled match on Sunday.
According to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Ginn was being held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center on Saturday. 10TV is working to determine what charges were filed against Ginn.
United Football League President and CEO Russ Brandon provided the following statement about Ginn, who was supposed to lead the Aviators against the Dallas Renegades:
“We are aware of an incident involving Head Coach Ted Ginn Jr. over the weekend and are in the process of gathering more information. Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley will handle the head coaching duties for the Aviators game on Sunday.”
Ginn played for the Buckeyes from 2004-06 and helped lead Ohio State to the BCS National Championship Game during the 2006 season.
After his college career, Ginn was drafted in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft and played professionally for 14 years with the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Chicago Bears.
The Columbus Aviators began their inaugural season in March.
