History

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 11, 2026) — It took more than eight hours, but Lubbock Christian University secured a 10-6 victory over Eastern New Mexico University on Saturday at Hays Field.

In the bottom of the fifth, the game went into a weather delay that lasted almost five hours. The Chaparrals capitalized on a dominant second inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take control of the game. The Greyhounds managed to score in five different innings but could not overcome their early deficit.

Lubbock Christian now has a record of 23-18 and now has the No. 6 spot in the Lone Star Conference standings. ENMU has a record of 15-26.

Eastern New Mexico got on the board quick with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but the Chaparrals answered back in the bottom of the frame. Jorge De Los Santos doubled to right center, setting up Roe Forrest’s single that placed runners on the corners. Owen Alsup then doubled, bringing home De Los Santos and Forrest.

In the second inning, the Chaps surged ahead with seven runs. Freddie Nolen doubled, followed by Tanner Pachorek’s single. A wild pitch advanced both runners, and Dylan Marx’s single brought them home. Kyle Lewis reached on an error, and Hudson Grace’s infield single loaded the bases. De Los Santos singled to right, scoring two more runs. Ryan Gargett added an RBI single, and another Nolen double capped the inning’s scoring and put the Chaps up 9-3.

In the third inning, ENMU added a run, but the Chaps responded as Lewis scored from second on a throwing error following a pickoff attempt. The score was 10-4 in favor of LCU after three innings.

Both teams went scoreless in the fourth and the Greyhounds couldn’t score in the top of the fifth before lightning caused the delay. When the two teams finally retook the field, LCU’s offense struggled, failing to score for the remainder of the game, despite baserunners in every inning.

ENMU plated single runs in the sixth and ninth innings, but LCU was able to close out the win thanks to solid relief outings from Will Cooper and Landon Abrahamson.
